The FDA has issued several warnings to alert U.S. citizens to the dangers of the Reumofan plus. It issued its first warning about these supplements on June 1st, 2012, announcing that there have been cases of death and stroke resulting from taking them.
One such hidden ingredient in Reumofan plus is dexamethasone, a corticosteroid which is often used to treat inflammatory conditions, but which also can increase glucose levels and can lead to psychiatric problems, as well as muscle and bone injuries. When a person suddenly stops taking dexamethasone, they are at risk of experiencing a withdrawal syndrome which involves nausea, low blood pressure, a drop in glucose levels, fatigue, dizziness, fever, and joint and muscle pain.
Methocarbamol has also been found in Reumofan Plus and Reumofan Plus Premium. This ingredient is a muscle relaxant which causes dizziness, sedation, a drop in blood pressure, and decreased physical and mental ability to perform tasks, such as operating machinery or driving.
The third hidden ingredient that lab analyses have uncovered is diclofenac sodium, which is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) which can increase the likelihood of severe gastrointestinal problems like bleeding, ulceration or lethal perforation of the intestines or stomach. They also put the person taking the medication at high risk for heart attack or stroke.
